Publicist in the UK and USA

Elsie was Charlie Chaplin’s British publicist in the late teens. A number of her articles about Chaplin and his working method are published in the British trade press and the fan magazine Pictures and the Picturegoer. An extract of her writing was also re-printed in Charlie (1922), the first “serious” study of the actor written by Louis Delluc.

In the early 1920s, she also controlled publicity for Famous Players-Lasky studio in Islington, London and wrote for trade journals and fan magazines including Kinematograph Weekly and The Picturegoer/Pictures and the Picturegoer.
